ANATHEMA

Abandoned home photo imagejpg2_zpsdaae3d98.jpg

Broken windows

splintered shards
scattered fragments
strewn

across a floor

like a million
dusty diamonds

Who lived here?

Was there ever laughter
heard echoing
on these now

silent walls?

Stillness haunts
the shadowed
rooms

where once
souls must surely

have loved!

Walk around
the barren halls
and stare

at spaces

that once held
cherished memories

now only cryptograms
of vacant dreams

showcased there

Reverie
and reminiscence
fail to conjure

anything more

than a vague sense
of uneasiness

a fugue

the door screams
painfully and
abruptly

the heart of
this house stops beating

with a click
as I turn

and walk away.
